CallDesk — Multi-Vertical AI Voice Receptionist

CallDesk is a multi-vertical AI voice receptionist that helps local businesses turn missed calls into real business actions. Built with AssemblyAI’s Voice Agent API, CallDesk allows hotels, hospitals, restaurants, and service businesses to deploy a personalized AI receptionist without needing technical expertise. Each business creates an account, selects its industry, and enters its real operational data. The AI then uses business-specific tools to perform tasks such as checking hotel room availability and booking rooms, finding hospital appointment slots, reserving restaurant tables, or capturing service leads and sending structured summaries to the business owner. Unlike simple voice chatbots that only answer questions from a prompt, CallDesk connects the AI directly to live database records. Availability is checked in real time, and bookings are transactional, preventing double-bookings of rooms, appointments, or tables. The platform uses AssemblyAI for real-time speech-to-text, reasoning, turn detection, and text-to-speech, while Twilio provides phone connectivity. Businesses connect their own Twilio accounts, keeping telecom billing separate from CallDesk. CallDesk’s key innovation is its multi-vertical architecture. The same platform can serve completely different businesses while dynamically adapting the agent, tools, data, and workflows to each business. This makes it possible to add future verticals such as salons, veterinary clinics, mechanics, law offices, and repair services without rebuilding the entire system. The goal is simple: make AI-powered phone reception accessible to small businesses and ensure that being too busy to answer the phone no longer means losing a customer.
