LinguSim is an adaptive voice-based language learning platform designed to help people practice how to actually communicate in the real world. Instead of following fixed lessons or scripted dialogues, LinguSim places learners inside interactive situations such as ordering food, checking into a hotel, navigating an airport, handling a workplace conversation, or dealing with an unexpected problem. The learner speaks naturally with an AI character powered by AssemblyAI's Voice Agent technology. The simulation can react dynamically to what the learner says and introduce unexpected events, misunderstandings, or complications that require the learner to clarify, rephrase, ask questions, and continue the conversation. The learner can also ask for hints by simple saying I don't understand or I need hint that the AI determines as requiring hint, then in the learners chosen language the hint is shown. After each simulation, LinguSim analyzes the learner's performance across areas such as grammar, vocabulary, fluency, task completion, and communication recovery. These results update the learner's profile and influence which scenario and difficulty level should come next. The goal is to create a personalized learning journey where the learner does not simply memorize correct answers, but repeatedly practices handling realistic conversations. The core loop is: Choose a situation → speak naturally → navigate the changing situation → receive feedback → identify weaknesses → get a personalized next challenge. LinguSim uses AssemblyAI's real-time Voice Agent capabilities for speech recognition, conversational reasoning, natural turn-taking, and voice responses, with application-level tools and learner data used to drive the simulation environment and personalization. AssemblyAI's Voice Agent API combines speech-to-text, LLM reasoning, text-to-speech, turn detection, and tool calling in a single real-time pipeline.
