DevOnboard AI — Smart Developer Onboarding Assistant DevOnboard AI is an AI-powered platform that helps developers understand unfamiliar software repositories quickly. Instead of being just a chatbot for GitHub, it analyzes the actual codebase and converts it into an interactive, evidence-backed representation of how the software works. Users can provide a GitHub repository or ZIP file. DevOnboard AI scans the project, detects languages, frameworks and dependencies, and analyzes files, functions, classes, imports, API routes and relationships using AST-based code analysis. This information is used to build an evidence graph and generate a Live Codebase Map. The Live Codebase Map allows developers to visually explore the actual architecture of a project. They can interact with components, understand dependencies, inspect relationships, and open the real source code behind each architectural element. Its key feature, Feature Trace, lets developers ask questions such as “How does authentication work?” and follow the actual implementation through the codebase. The system can trace a flow such as UI → API → Service → Repository → Database, visually animate the path, and show the source code and explanation for each step. The platform also provides a grounded AI assistant that answers repository questions using RAG and retrieved source-code evidence. Instead of guessing, the AI cites relevant files and symbols, and can abstain when the repository does not contain enough information. Beyond understanding the code, DevOnboard AI helps developers set up and validate their environment by analyzing project configuration, dependencies, Docker files and environment requirements. It can also identify real TODOs, missing tests, documentation gaps and other opportunities to generate personalized starter tasks for a developer's first contribution. Security is built into the system through secret detection, credential redaction, isolated repository analysis and tenant-level data protection, ensuring sensitive repository information is protected before AI processing. In short, DevOnboard AI takes a developer from “I don't understand this codebase” to _“I understand how it works, I can run it, and I know where I can contribute.” It is an interactive onboarding system that reconstructs real software architecture, explains real feature flows, and guides developers toward their first contribution.
