In modern manufacturing, unexpected machinery downtime costs millions of dollars per hour. Traditional factory monitoring faces two major pitfalls: basic computer-vision defect tools detect fractures without knowing what actions operators must take, while streaming heavy 4K camera streams continuously to cloud data centers consumes unsustainable network bandwidth. ApexSentry solves this by implementing a dual-tier Edge-to-Cloud architecture: 1. Edge Tier (Local Computer Vision): A local OpenCV pipeline inspects surface components (such as turbine blades, pistons, and rollers) in real time. It filters noise, detects micro-fractures, isolates bounding regions, and computes surface defect density (%) in under 12 milliseconds. 2. Cloud Diagnostic Tier (AMD ROCm Acceleration): Instead of transmitting heavy image streams, the edge device transmits a compact JSON payload containing defect counts, surface area percentages, and physical sensor telemetry (vibration, heat, pressure) to the AMD Token Factory. An open model hosted on AMD Radeon Cloud infrastructure evaluates the physical degradation mechanics, instantly generating an actionable engineering briefing: severity level assessment, root-cause hypothesis, and a concrete line containment protocol.
