MAYDAY: Autonomous AI Incident Commander

### Problem Statement Production downtime bleeds $14.50 every single second ($870/minute) in modern high-throughput e-commerce and fintech platforms. When an outage strikes at 3:00 AM, traditional on-call engineers suffer from panic, alert fatigue, and frantic Slack triage. Teams typically spend 30 to 45 minutes manually digging through logs, arguing over hypothetical root causes, and deploying untested "band-aid" patches that silence crashes while silently leaking customer revenue or corrupting database state. ### The Solution: MAYDAY MAYDAY is an Autonomous AI Incident Commander powered by the IBM Bob 2.0 multi-agent architecture. Designed for SREs, DevOps teams, and enterprise platform engineering leads, MAYDAY replaces human panic with deterministic mathematical certainty. When an unhandled crash or race condition triggers an alert, MAYDAY immediately deploys three specialized AI detectives in parallel: 1. RECON-1 (Recent Changes Detective): Audits git blame, recent dependency upgrades, and breaking API contract envelope drift. 2. RECON-2 (Null-Safety & Logic Detective): Scans AST syntax trees, unhandled promise rejections, and type exceptions. 3. RECON-3 (Concurrency & Race Detective): Simulates asynchronous thread interleaving, event loop delays, and distributed race windows. ### What Makes MAYDAY Unique: The Cross-Examination Matrix Unlike naive LLM coding assistants that hallucinate or propose cosmetic fixes, MAYDAY never deploys unverified code. MAYDAY introduces the Cross-Examination Matrix—an automated assertion laboratory. Every patch proposed by one detective is cross-examined against reproduction tests written by the others. - When an agent proposes a lazy null check (`?.amount ?? 0`), the matrix proves that while it stops the crash, it charges a $0 processing fee, violating business invariants and leaking thousands in daily revenue. The band-aid is instantly REJECTED. - Only a patch that passes all invariants, crash prevention tests, and the full regression suite is CROWNED and deployed via zero-downtime hot-patching. ### Real-World Interaction & Impact Engineers interact with MAYDAY through: - Real-Time War Room: Live financial bleed counter, detective hypothesis ladder, and synchronized AST diff inspection. - Diagnostic Studio & Lab: Interactive sandbox where teams paste any real-world code or stack trace (including production SIH and cloud errors) for sub-second multi-agent triage powered by high-speed Groq inference. - Automated Postmortems: Complete timeline generation, PR pull request links, and mean-time-to-recovery metrics. In benchmark tests, MAYDAY reduces Time-to-Root-Cause (TTRC) from 28 minutes to 14 seconds—a 97.5% reduction that halts financial bleed before customers even notice.
